“Pub” is in the Air at Radio Bingo
By Jasmine Parrott and Madison Lewis
THE Student Entertainment Council provided the opportunity to celebrate Feb. 14 with other broncs who might not have had plans this year – Radio Bingo Valentine’s Edition.
Muller’s Pub was accessorized from floor to ceiling with pink and red heart decorations, streamers and LED light fixtures anticipated the event ahead.
Rich and James, of DJ’s @ Work, were the emcees of the night, their voices reverberated from the speakers and excited the crowd for the upcoming music and giveaways.
The highlight of the night was the music bingo, featuring a playlist of well-known and trending pop songs. Bingo cards were handed out with crayons, and hits that students marked off were “Please, Please, Please,” “Espresso,” “A Bar Song,” “Good 4 U” and “Boy’s a Liar.”
As tunes played, students hoped they would be one of the lucky winners, bags of prizes were displayed at the bar.

In a unique twist to start off, the first prize was dubbed the “Biggest Loser.” The gift was awarded to the student who had none of their songs marked off after five songs were already played.
Rich, one of the emcees, invited everyone with a blank card to the DJ booth as more songs continued to play, and the last person standing without any songs won.
One particular song got a student off her feet, to belt out the lyrics to “Shallow” from A Star is Born. Kendall Grant, a junior organizational psychology major, felt the love from the crowd as she sang her heart out.
Grant said she felt like she was “back in [high school] choir.” She loves going out to events that Rider puts on for students, and wanted to participate in this event because of the atmosphere.
The dance floor was alive with energy as “Cupid Shuffle” and “Cotton Eye Joe” got everyone moving and out of their seats.
Onlookers passing the Pub danced along to some of the recognizable hits.
Senior accounting major Siarra Tejada said her favorite song of the night was “Cha Cha Slide” by DJ Casper.
“[the song played] a little later … into the night … we were all giggly and all comfortable. … Everyone was up dancing, getting low on the floor,” she said.
Musical chairs added a playful element to the night, offering students the chance to win a prize.
Prizes were continuously being given out as the night progressed, and they ranged from essential oils to a phone wallet.
Students were screaming with excitement when musical chairs were brought out. Nine chairs were set up and ten people were chosen as a team captain from different sides of the Pub.
The team captains were anxious and eager to win the next prize, as there were only three prizes left at the bar.
The emcee made it an interesting round of musical chairs, by implementing that students were not allowed to touch the chairs as they walked around the room to get a seat.
Some of the students had to touch the tops of their heads, dance to “Baby Shark, and walk backwards to make it all the more challenging to win.
Senior global accounting major Olena Mykhaylyshyn won musical chairs and received a Rider-themed lanyard with flower embellishments. She said that she did not originally plan on attending the event.
“It wasn’t planned … to go out and go to bingo, but once we did it made [Valentine’s Day] more special and a memorable [time],” Mykhaylyshyn said.
The evening concluded with a conga line around the pub as “Fireball” by Pitbull played, with students holding light-up batons and streamers. The belted singing and hilarious dancing created a memorable night for students this Valentine’s Day, leaving smiles and stories to share.
