Staff Bios

Jake Tiger, executive editor, (he/him)

Jake Tiger is a senior journalism major with minors in sports media and social media strategies, and he is currently the executive editor of The Rider News. He is the host of “The Rider News Roundup” on 107.7 The Bronc. Tiger began as a sports writer for The Rider News in 2021, and has since worked as sports editor and managing editor. In 2023, Tiger earned the SPJ Region 1 Mark of Excellence for Sports Writing, and in 2024, he was awarded First Place for News Writing by the New Jersey Press Foundation. He recently completed an NJPF summer internship with The SandPaper on Long Beach Island. Tiger also works as a tutor for Rider’s Academic Success Center and as a freelancer for NJ.com. Hannah Newman, managing editor (she/her)

Hannah Newman is the managing editor at The Rider News. She is a senior journalism major with a minor in sports media. Newman served as a features and entertainment editor for two years prior to taking on the role as managing editor. In addition to her position at The Rider News she is also the president of Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity. Newman can be reached at newmanha@rider.edu

Jay Roberson, news editor (they/he/she)

Jay Roberson is a news editor at The Rider News. They began as a copy editor in fall 2022 before moving to news editor in spring 2023. Roberson is a secondary education and English major with a minor in special education.They are interning at Fisher Middle School teaching 8th grade in the fall semester. Outside of the newspaper, they are the president of Unified Sports and work as a student producer at 107.7 The Bronc. Roberson can be reached at robersonji@rider.edu for any questions or tips. 

Caroline Haviland, news editor (she/her)

Caroline Haviland is currently a news editor at The Rider News. Haviland is a junior journalism major with a minor in political science. Haviland’s interests include cooking, reading, and writing. Contact Haviland with any questions, tips, and any inquiries at havilandc@rider.edu

Kadie DiGiuseppe, sports editor, (she/her)

Kadie DiGiuseppe is a sophomore sports media major and is currently one of the sports editors at The Rider News. Kadie also works for Rider’s radio station, 107.7 The Bronc where she is the News Director. In that role, she oversees three radio shows that air on the two different radio stations at the top of the hour everyday. She also has a Philadelphia sports show with her friends on the station called “Broncs on Broad” that airs on 107.7 The Bronc every Tuesday from 1-2pm. Kadie is also a part of the Women’s Leadership Council and Club Softball at Rider aside from her media commitments. At the end of her freshman year, Kadie was presented with two awards as the Freshman Journalist of the Year and the Freshman Broadcaster of the Year for her work with The Rider News and 107.7 The Bronc. Kadie loves going to concerts, going to the beach, hanging out with friends, watching her comfort TV shows and watching her favorite Philadelphia sports teams. Benjamin Shinault, sports editor (he/him)

Benjamin Shinault is a current sports editor at The Rider News. Benjamin is a junior majoring in multiplatform journalism with a minor in sports media. Benjamin entered the newspaper in the Fall of 2022 as a writer and for the academic years of 2022 and 2023, Benjamin was named Freshman and Sophomore Journalist of the Year. Also at Rider, Benjamin is heavily involved at 107.7 The Bronc, Rider’s student-run radio station, where he holds the executive title of Copy Director. Also at 107.7 The Bronc, Ben produces and records weekly sports reports, performs radio play-by-play broadcasts for the women’s basketball team at Rider and is also a co-host of Broncs on Broad, a Philly sports talk show. Madison Lewis, features and entertainment editor (she/her)

Madison Lewis is the current features and entertainment editor for the Rider News. Rider News throughout the 2023-24 school year. Lewis first started at the newspaper in her freshman year as a copy editor and continued in that position throughout her sophomore year. In her junior year, she was offered the editor position. This summer, she interned with the Asbury Park Press as a trending and food reporter. Outside of working and writing for the school newspaper, Lewis is the secretary of the NEDA Campus Warriors at Rider University, an organization that advocates for people struggling with eating disorders. Grace Bertrand, features and entertainment editor (she/her)

Grace Bertrand is currently a features and entertainment editor at The Rider News. Bertrand is a junior journalism major with a minor in social justice and civic engagement. Outside of The Rider News, Bertrand is the public relations chair for Active Minds, a mental health organization, at Rider University. Libby D’Orvilliers, opinion editor, (she/her)

Libby D’Orvilliers is currently a junior at Rider majoring in psychology. In addition to working for The Rider News, D’Orvilliers is president of the club NEDA Campus Warriors at Rider University and she also serves as a Psychology Learning Community mentor. Kaitlyn Seawood, social media editor (she/her)

Kaitlyn Seawood is a senior journalism major with a minor in social media strategies and is currently the social media editor of The Rider News. Seawood is a transfer student from Northampton Community College where she received her associate degree in journalism. She held positions for their student newspaper, The Commuter, as deputy editor and editor-in-chief. Outside of journalism, she is vice president of the Transfer Student Association, works with Rider’s admission team as a transfer experience coordinator, and vice president of social media for the Gail Bierenbaum Leadership Council. Maggie Kleiner, graphic design manager (she/her)

Maggie Kleiner is the graphic design manager of The Rider News. She is a senior graphic design major and a transfer student from Connecticut College. Kleiner was previously the photo editor of The Rider News in the Spring semester of 2024 and has contributed to the newspaper since her first semester at Rider. Josiah Thomas, video editor (he/him)

Josiah Thomas is the current video editor for The Rider News. He is a senior graphic design major with an entrepreneurship minor. Destiny Pagan, photo editor (She/Her) 

Destiny is the photo editor of The Rider News. She is a Business Admin major with a Graphic Design minor and a transfer student from Middlesex County College. Pagan is also a part of DAARSTOC, Delta Sigma Pi, and BroncVision. Outside of school she teaches gymnastics at a local gym. Pagan can be reached at pagand@rider.edu for any questions or tips.

Matt Cirola, circulation manager (he/him)

Matt is the current circulation manager for The Rider News. He is a sophomore Theatre Design & Technology major, with a minor in Graphic Design. When he’s not delivering papers, Matt can be spotted playing Ultimate Frisbee with the Rider Rangers and performing in the Rider Pep Band! Matt can be reached at cirolam@rider.edu.

Colleton, copy editor (he/him)

Colleton is a copy editor for The Rider News pursuing a major in film and television as well as minors in both sports media and English with a concentration in writing. Colleton can be found around campus as an embedded tutor for composition writing, a student worker at the TV studio, a production crew member for Rider Athletics, a producer at Rider University Network, an ambassador for the Office of International Education, and the Vice President of Rider’s Rock Climbing Club. Outside of Rider, Colleton can be found arguing about Philadelphia sports teams and petting Scooter, the best cat in the world.

Klaudine Bessasparis, copy editor (she/her)

Klaudine Bessasparis (she/her) is a copy editor for The Rider News. She is also the Treasurer and a Poetry Editor for Venture. She is a Student Writing Consultant for Rider University’s Academic Success Center, a Copyeditor for Guardian Digital, and previously tutored students in entry-level Composition courses at Rider University. She is a book lover, an outdoor enthusiast, and a constant source of (very bad) puns. As a feminist who may talk about patriarchy a little too much, Klaudine presented an analytical work for Rider University’s 2023 and 2024 Gender and Sexuality Studies Colloquium, one of which allowed her to geek out over Tangled even while admitting its faults.

Raven Syed, copy editor (he/him)

Raven Syed is a sophomore majoring in actuarial science and currently works at The Rider News as a copy editor. Outside of the newspaper, Syed is the Treasurer for The Rider Pep Band and works for The Academic Success Center as an embedded tutor for finite mathematics. Syed’s interests include music, martial arts, and foreign languages.
